New owners are poised to pick up the keys to the Bay of Many Coves, contemporary luxury accommodation resort in the Marlborough Sounds this week.
Set within the heart of New Zealand's finest wine growing country, the Bay of Many Coves is a secluded retreat offering guests a smorgasbord of excellent cuisine and wines, therapeutic spa treatments, romance and relaxation in luxury accommodation amidst New Zealand’s finest natural scenery.
The new owners of the five star Qualmark property, boasting 11 apartments and two studios, are a small group of successful New Zealand business people with a flair for developing customer and shareholder value. Nigel Gould, a major shareholder in the new venture says, “It’s an exciting time to invest in the New Zealand tourism market. Despite the low economy, the high-end travel market has remained buoyant and New Zealand continues to be one of the world’s most aspirational destinations.”
“Tourism is a key driver for our economy and the high-end travel industry is fairing best in the present market conditions. Future bookings at the Bay of Many Coves are looking very positive,” says Gould. The increased frequency of cheap trans-Tasman flights has helped to sustain in-bound travel from Australia throughout the ‘recession’. Tourism New Zealand forecasts Australian arrivals will grow 23.6% by 2015, and Asian in-bound traffic will grow by 20.6%.
“International travellers want to experience the best that New Zealand has to offer and we look forward to inviting our first guests to the Bay of Many Coves to soak up the ultimate in luxury at one of the world’s most beautiful locations,” says Gould. Bliss is guaranteed for all guests indulging in the resort’s Miritu Spa which offers therapies and traditional massage concepts which are enriched by sea minerals and oils from native flowers.
The management team is committed to providing guests with the ultimate luxury Kiwi experience and continuing to improve the resorts facilities and range of offerings.
“Guests at the Bay of Many Coves will enjoy a five star Kiwi experience including a multitude of outdoor pursuits, superb local cuisine, fine New Zealand wines and luxury accommodation, all set against a backdrop of unsurpassed natural beauty of the Queen Charlotte Sound,” says Gould. Adventure on the water is just a kayak ride away. Jetty access to the sheltered bay enables guests to discover the many coves, beaches and spectacular views. Walking tracks at the resort are a haven for wildlife and lead guests through lush native bush which is rich with bird song.
At the end of the day guests can relax in the outdoor hot tub as they splendour the rich beauty of the sounds in comfort and style.
“The Bay of Many Coves is the epitome of five star luxury,” says Gould. “Our new management team has been selected with service excellence at top of mind”.
Pip and Nicholas Goodhew will be responsible for the day-to-day management of the Bay of Many Coves. They have a heritage in providing guests with providing guests with five star experience, managing staff and maximising revenue.
Key customers for the resort have traditionally been weddings, corporate and the high-end consumer travel which remain a key focus for the new owners. Gould says, “We aim to tap into the lucrative in-bound travel market, predominantly from Australia and Asia, and deepen our relationships with the domestic travel industry to maximise occupancy and drive profitable growth”. He added, “We also acknowledge the success of the outgoing managers in establishing the resort both internationally and in the local market”.

It is located 30-minutes from Picton and can be reached by water taxi, helicopter or floatplane.
