Bay of Many Coves takes on top chef

15 December 2009

The only five star resort in the Marlborough Sounds, Bay of Many Coves, has appointed new Executive Chef, Jonathon Rogers to the team.

With 11 years experience, Rogers trained in Auckland at Orbit Restaurant and Harbourside under Tony Adcock, James Hutchinson, Jimmy Gerard and Phil Spathis. In 2004 Rogers left New Zealand and travelled to Canada where he worked with one of Canada’s top chefs, Melissa Craig at the Bearfoot Bistro in Whistler. “We’re thrilled to have appointed someone of such high calibre,” said major shareholder, Nigel Gould. “Jonathon has had many years experience working with a number of highly acclaimed chefs around the world and we’re excited about what he’ll bring to the resort.”

Rogers is equally excited about the opportunity to put his skills into practice. “My culinary philosophy is to use only the finest, seasonal, top quality ingredients and to keep the flavours on the plate simple, enhancing and complementing the main ingredient,” he said.

New owners picked up the keys to the Bay of Many Coves in October this year and are introducing a number of changes to position the resort as one of New Zealand’s finest. The contemporary luxury resort is located in the Marlborough Sounds, which is set within the heart of New Zealand's finest wine growing region.

The Bay of Many Coves is a secluded retreat offering guests a smorgasbord of excellent cuisine and wines, therapeutic spa treatments, romance and relaxation in luxury accommodation amidst New Zealand’s finest natural scenery.
