The Bay of Many Coves, Marlborough

Luxury has a new expression …

The Bay of Many Coves is a 59.5-hectare, Qualmark five-star rated property located in Queen Charlotte Sound, Marlborough adjoining the Queen Charlotte track. The Bay of Many Coves is together with both a Small Luxury Hotels of the World and Luxury Lodges of New Zealand.

We are proud to be kiwi owned and operated by three New Zealand families Nigel and Janine Gould, Ross and Allison Morley and Murray and Elaine McCaw. Pip and Nicholas Goodhew are responsible for the day-to-day onsite management of the Lodge, assisted by friendly and very experienced staff from across the country and from all four corner of the globe.

In the late the 40’s the property was owned by The Gilkison family. For many years it was the Wellington family’s holiday home affectionately known as “San Pedro” after a popular song at the time. Robert Gilkison and his wife Colleen lived there permanently for some years in the early 60s before selling the main property to Errol Christian who ran it as “The Gem”.

During the redevelopment of the property in late 2003 considerable effort went into the design of the current lodge to create an exceptional five star destination for discerning travelers from within New Zealand and around the world. The idea is to provide a uniquely New Zealand experience in a warm and homely, yet totally luxurious environment – an experience you just won’t find anywhere else.

The Luxury Lodge Management is committed to providing guests with the ultimate luxury Kiwi hospitality, and continuing to improve the resort’s facilities and range of offerings. Service excellence and your enjoyment is always our top priority at the Bay of Many Coves, Marlborough.
